Bacillus subtilis SH1 (sometimes referenced as HS1 in subsequent publications) is a marine-isolated strain of B. subtilis with a narrow research record. In vitro work characterized its exopolysaccharide production, and one animal study examined it as a probiotic additive in European seabass larvae aquaculture, where it was assessed alongside chitosan prebiotics for effects on growth and oxidative stress markers. This research is entirely within the context of aquaculture rather than human health. No human clinical evidence exists for this strain, and it is described here as an aquaculture probiotic candidate with limited characterization.
