Clostridium novyi is an anaerobic, spore-forming bacterium whose toxigenic types cause gas gangrene and animal disease. A non-toxigenic derivative (C. novyi-NT) has been explored in early experimental oncology research as a tumor-targeting agent, but that work is unrelated to probiotic use. It is listed here as a taxonomic reference, not as a beneficial strain, and strain-specific probiotic evidence is absent.
