Bifidobacterium lactis BPL1
Bifidobacterium lactis BPL1 (formally classified as Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BPL1) is a probiotic strain with a limited but emerging research base. In vitro work from 2021 examined the strain's cholesterol assimilation under simulated intestinal conditions, a mechanism relevant to lipid metabolism; laboratory findings do not establish efficacy in humans. A 2026 in vitro study explored its use as a postbiotic antimicrobial agent in food systems. Strain-specific human clinical evidence is not yet available, so the overall picture for BPL1 remains early-stage and largely preclinical. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
Where it's been studied Tags come from a conservative keyword scan of each paper's title, abstract, and summary. A tag is research coverage, not measured effect. How we classify this →
Share of this strain's 1 body-system-tagged papers that concern each system. Research coverage, not measured effect.
Symptoms in the research A tag means the paper's text names the symptom or condition — research coverage, not evidence of benefit. How we classify this →
