Lactobacillus parafarraginis

◐ Food-origin
Sequenced
Public genome assembly available

Lactobacillus parafarraginis is a heterofermentative lactic acid bacterium originally isolated from fermented food sources, particularly silage. In vitro studies have examined antimicrobial activity against multidrug-resistant pathogens. Research has examined its role in food fermentation and preservation, including potential antimicrobial mechanisms. This strain has been studied for use in animal feed; human clinical evidence remains limited. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
