Lactobacillus farciminis

◐ Food-origin
Sequenced
Public genome assembly available

Lactobacillus farciminis is a lactic acid bacterium historically associated with fermented meat products such as dry sausage, and research on this species spans food science, animal feed, and basic microbiology rather than a cohesive human probiotic program. In vitro studies have characterized its beta-galactosidase activity, bacteriocin production potential, and capacity to biotransform phenolic compounds such as ferulic acid. Animal studies have examined short-chain fatty acid production in poultry and potential applications in ruminant fermentation. One genome sequence paper characterized a strain with pleomorphic properties. Human clinical evidence specific to L. farciminis is absent from the associated literature, and probiotic characterization for human use has not been established for this strain entry. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
