Limosilactobacillus fermentum UCO-979C has one of the more focused evidence bases among the strains in this batch, with research concentrated on Helicobacter pylori — the bacterium associated with peptic ulcers. In vitro and animal studies have examined its interaction with H. pylori and characterized the strain's exopolysaccharide and immunomodulatory properties as potential contributing mechanisms, documented in laboratory settings. Two small randomized controlled trials were conducted in Chilean populations: one examined a gelatin product containing UCO-979C in relation to H. pylori infection rates in young adults over a defined period, and another assessed body composition and dietary habit outcomes.
