Limosilactobacillus reuteri ATCC PTA 6475
Limosilactobacillus reuteri ATCC PTA-6475 is a human-origin strain that has been studied for gut barrier function, immune modulation, and as a potential adjunct during Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy. A 2024 randomized controlled trial examined this strain alone and in combination with L. reuteri DSM 17938 in patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome, examining gut barrier markers and symptoms. In vitro research has documented that the strain produces folate (vitamin B9) via a specific metabolic pathway, and has examined the strain's interaction with intestinal epithelial cells in the presence of enterotoxigenic E. coli. The evidence base includes both in vitro mechanistic work and small human studies. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
