Limosilactobacillus reuteri ATCC 55730
Limosilactobacillus reuteri ATCC 55730 (the parent strain from which DSM 17938 was derived) has been evaluated in several randomized controlled trials, predominantly in pediatric populations, examining acute gastroenteritis in children. A separate RCT examined its use as an adjunct in pediatric distal ulcerative colitis. In vitro studies have examined activity against cariogenic bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans and periodontal pathogens, with a clinical lozenges trial examining oral health outcomes. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
