Bifidobacterium lactis A6
Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis A6 is a probiotic strain originally isolated from a centenarian, and current evidence for it comes entirely from preclinical settings. Animal model studies have examined gut inflammation in colitis models and bone and muscle health outcomes in relation to gut microbial composition and butyrate production, a short-chain fatty acid linked to intestinal barrier function. An in vitro transcriptomic study has begun characterizing how the strain's gene expression shifts across growth phases. Human clinical data are not yet available.
