Lactobacillus gasseri SBT2055
Lactobacillus gasseri SBT2055 (now reclassified as Lactobacillus paragasseri SBT2055) has been studied in human observational and randomized controlled trials. Two placebo-controlled RCTs examined this strain in relation to immune responses — specifically activation of plasmacytoid dendritic cells, immune cells that produce antiviral proteins — and subjective cold symptoms in healthy adults. In vitro studies have examined its adherence to intestinal surfaces and interactions with pathogens such as Campylobacter jejuni, while animal model research has explored its potential role in the context of Helicobacter suis colonization. The evidence base includes human trial data, and additional independent replication would be needed to strengthen confidence in these findings. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
