Levilactobacillus brevis CD2
Levilactobacillus brevis CD2 (formerly Lactobacillus brevis CD2) has a focused research record centered on oral health applications, particularly the prevention and management of oral mucositis — painful inflammation of the mouth's mucosal lining that can arise during chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Multiple randomized controlled trials have investigated CD2 lozenges in this context, as well as in dental caries risk in children and halitosis, though study sizes vary. In vitro and in vivo work has also characterized its nitrate-reducing activity, examined in relation to cardiovascular and oral health contexts. A small number of RCTs have tested it in vaginal health and respiratory infection contexts as part of multi-strain products. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
