Levilactobacillus brevis KB290
Levilactobacillus brevis KB290 (formerly Lactobacillus brevis KB290) is a Japanese probiotic strain with a sequenced genome and a body of human and animal research. Two randomized controlled trials examined this strain in the context of irritable bowel syndrome, including diarrhea-predominant IBS in combination with beta-carotene, and an open-label pilot study examined influenza incidence among schoolchildren who consumed it. Animal research has examined its cell-bound exopolysaccharides — complex surface carbohydrates — in relation to immune cell activity and intestinal inflammation, and in vitro work has characterized its interaction with gut pathogens. Most human trials in the indexed literature are small or exploratory in design. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
Where it's been studied Tags come from a conservative keyword scan of each paper's title, abstract, and summary. A tag is research coverage, not measured effect. How we classify this →
Share of this strain's 21 body-system-tagged papers that concern each system. Research coverage, not measured effect.
Symptoms in the research A tag means the paper's text names the symptom or condition — research coverage, not evidence of benefit. How we classify this →
