Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LB21
Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LB21 is a strain with a modest body of published research, primarily focused on oral microbiome interactions. In vitro studies have documented LB21's effects on growth of cariogenic Streptococcus mutans and Candida species, and its co-aggregation with caries-associated bacteria. A small observational pilot study in adolescents examined salivary and supragingival plaque microbial profiles following consumption of LB21-supplemented milk. In vitro work has also explored interactions with nasal epithelial cells, though this evidence is limited to cell culture models.
