Levilactobacillus brevis SBC8803
Levilactobacillus brevis SBC8803 (also marketed as SBL88) has an unusual research profile centered on heat-killed rather than live cells, a preparation sometimes called a paraprobiotic. It has been studied in animal models and in human trials, including a small human crossover pilot and one RCT, in relation to sleep quality, with proposed mechanisms involving serotonin-related pathways in the gut. Separate animal work has examined skin barrier function and dry skin markers in relation to this strain. The RCT examining sleep is single, industry-affiliated, and was conducted in a Japanese population. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
