Limosilactobacillus fermentum VRI-003
Limosilactobacillus fermentum VRI-003 (formerly Lactobacillus fermentum VRI-003, marketed as PCC) is a human-origin strain with a small human RCT evidence base. A 2008 trial in endurance athletes examined oral administration in relation to mucosal immunity, and a separate 2005 RCT examined the strain in children with atopic dermatitis. In vitro studies have characterized its adhesion to Peyer's patches, immune tissue in the small intestine, documenting a possible mechanism for immune interaction in laboratory settings.
