Weissella cibaria CMS1
Weissella cibaria CMS1 is an oral probiotic strain with early-stage evidence across a small number of studies. A 2006 randomized controlled trial examined CMS1's activity against Streptococcus mutans biofilm formation in a clinical setting; S. mutans is a bacterium associated with dental plaque. In vitro work has examined CMS1's activity against certain respiratory viruses and rotavirus under laboratory conditions. Animal model research has examined the strain, in combination with a related Weissella strain, in the context of allergic airway inflammation. These findings are preliminary and do not establish clinical efficacy; the strain remains an early-research-stage candidate.
