Akkermansia muciniphila EB-AMDK19 is a bacterium belonging to the Akkermansia genus, a member of the Verrucomicrobia phylum. Research has examined this strain and related Akkermansia species in animal models of immunological and metabolic conditions, including studies on muscle strength, atopic dermatitis, allergic airway inflammation, and diet-induced weight gain. A randomized controlled trial in humans investigated effects on respiratory symptoms using the heat-killed formulation. Both heat-killed and viable formulations have been studied in preclinical and clinical research.
