Lactobacillus casei Shirota
Lactobacillus casei Shirota is one of the most extensively studied probiotic strains, with a research history spanning several decades. In vitro studies have examined its competition with gastrointestinal pathogens for intestinal adhesion sites, and separate cell-based experiments have explored its interaction with human immune responses. A small number of randomized controlled trials have examined this strain in combination formulations, including one human trial assessing glycemic and appetite responses to a multi-ingredient drink, though these multi-component designs make it difficult to attribute effects to L. casei Shirota alone. The evidence base is broad but heterogeneous. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
Where it's been studied Tags come from a conservative keyword scan of each paper's title, abstract, and summary. A tag is research coverage, not measured effect. How we classify this →
