Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3856

◐ Food-origin

Public genome assembly available

Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3856 is a probiotic yeast strain with multiple randomized controlled trials and a published meta-analysis focused on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The clinical evidence, including an individual-subject meta-analysis, has examined abdominal pain and digestive discomfort in IBS populations. In vitro studies have also explored its competitive interactions with enteropathogens such as E. coli O157:H7, and animal model work has examined inflammatory pathways in colitis models. This strain should not be viewed as a treatment for IBS or any other gastrointestinal condition. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
