Bifidobacterium breve M-16V
Bifidobacterium breve M-16V is a well-studied strain with a particular focus on infant and neonatal applications. Multiple randomized controlled trials have examined its use in preterm and low-birth-weight infants, looking at gut microbiota colonization and short-chain fatty acid production in that population. Animal and human RCT research has also examined immune response modulation associated with allergic conditions, and a 2023 double-blind RCT in adults examined autonomic nervous system parameters in connection with changes in the gut environment. A 2022 animal study also examined this strain in the context of nanopolystyrene exposure and immune modulation under microplastic conditions. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
