Bifidobacterium lactis DN-173 010
Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis DN-173 010 (also marketed as Bifidus Regularis) is among the most studied probiotic strains in the context of digestive function, with multiple randomized controlled trials in humans. Human trials have examined gut transit time and abdominal distension, particularly in the context of functional constipation and irritable bowel syndrome; several studies have examined gastrointestinal survival and detectability of the strain in stool. The strain has been delivered primarily as fermented dairy products in research settings. Research on endpoints beyond digestive transit — including oral health and colon health — comes largely from early-stage or animal studies. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
