Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GR-1
Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GR-1 is among the most thoroughly researched probiotic strains for urogenital health, with multiple randomized controlled trials evaluating its oral use in relation to vaginal microbiota composition. It has been studied as an adjunctive approach alongside standard antibiotic therapy for bacterial vaginosis. In vitro work has characterized specific surface proteins that mediate adherence to vaginal epithelium and interact with immune signaling in bladder cells, documented in laboratory settings. GR-1 is most commonly paired with L. reuteri RC-14 in clinical research; its effects when used alone are less extensively documented. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
