Lactobacillus helveticus R0052
Lactobacillus helveticus R0052 is most often studied in combination with Bifidobacterium longum R0175, a pairing investigated in the context of the gut-brain axis (the bidirectional communication network linking intestinal microbes to the central nervous system). Animal model work has explored mood-related outcomes following this combination, and at least one small human randomized controlled trial examined brain responses to emotional tasks, though the multi-strain design means outcomes cannot be attributed to R0052 alone. Additional human RCTs have assessed the broader combination in healthy adults and in infants. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
