Lactobacillus acidophilus La-14
Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14 is a well-characterized probiotic strain with a body of research spanning immune function, digestive health, and encapsulation stability. A 2008 double-blind randomized controlled trial in healthy adults examined specific immune responses, and animal studies have examined the strain in the context of bacterial vaginosis and Helicobacter pylori colonization, though these have not been replicated in controlled human trials for those specific outcomes. Preliminary research, based on observational data from a synbiotic formulation studied in non-dialysis kidney disease patients, has also examined symptoms associated with antibiotic use. Strain-level human clinical evidence remains limited, and further controlled trials would be needed before conclusions can be drawn. These are research topics, not findings; the papers do not establish that this strain treats or prevents any condition.
